Hmmmm. I wonder if an active JW would get in trouble for openly observing the Sabbath on Saturdays?
Probably.

yesterday afternoon i was speaking to my jw neighbor and he managed to get on the topic of "unity" that defines true christianity.
i then said "what if you have some in a church who believes certain days are more holy than others and yet others who think all days are the same?
is that acceptable?".
Hmmmm. I wonder if an active JW would get in trouble for openly observing the Sabbath on Saturdays?
Probably.

seriously.... there's a meeting where wt dogma is taught... nothing unusual there.... they pass around bread and wine and in the vast majority of khs no one at all partakes.. if anything, it is a pantomime of wt teaching that the "great crowd" of "other sheep" have no part in the blood and body of christ.. hardly something to celebrate....
yknot: "Gonna be a snooze fest cuz we got late memorial assignment......."
Hey yknot, I think you're forgetting that if you play your cards right, whoever provided the wine might invite you over to share the last 1/3 of a bottle that's left. Woo-Hoo!!! Good times!!
I remember one year when helping to clean up, the guy who brought the wine wanted to pour the wine from the glasses back into the bottle since there were no partakers. After reminding him that over 100 mouths and noses had just come in close proximity to it, he decided to dump it down the sink.

When they were comparing the increase in hours they weren't comparing November 2011 to October 2011. They were comparing November 2011 to November 2010.
" when compared to the same month last year"
It's still wishful thinking data mining though.

the sunday after every memorial they intruduce a new talk, which is the 'special talk'.. this year it's called: "is it later than you think".
anyone able to provide me the outline?.
yknot, your undercover activities are always appreciated.
For your sake I hope you'll be able to come out in the open someday, but for now, thanks for all you do.

i'm walking around the street or shopping mall.
people almost walk into me.
umm, can't you see that a person is only inches away from your body?.
Did somebody start a thread here?
I've definitely felt like the "invisible man" at the mall. But I've also ignored plenty of people while existing blithely in my own bubble.
FWIW, I enjoy your posts and am glad you're here.

long story - will make it short - i was a jw for 4 years.
hy husband took to it straigt away and has been a jw for 20 years - we were both converted by one of his workmates.
our 4 kids were all baptised jws and thankfully 3 escaped (2 disfellowshipped, one fading) - so my eldest son is still in with his dad.
Tell him the gist of what you just wrote. Make sure it's at a time when neither of you are tired or cranky.
Then ask if he's willing to talk to a marriage counselor. (Not JW elders either.)
Just a thought.

i dont want to stir up conspiracy theories.
is there any strong evidence out there that would suggest that bethel monitors this site?.
One big thing they watch for is copyright infringement.
When the new elder's secret decoder manual came out, people started posting links to scanned copies of it.
Simon got hit with a legal notice to get rid of the offending threads.

Hey there Blueblades/Mall Cop.
Nice to see you again.
If you're using the latest version of Internet Explorer, it doesn't work too well on here.
Firefox (what I use) and Chrome are supposed to work pretty well on this site.

i really have nothing much more to say, except to say thank you to all the people who have contributed to me in my threads and all the people whom i battled over the years.
the battles have been most entertaining and enlightening.
i've learned a great deal from them, and i've laughed a great deal from the idiotic attempts of fools to make a coherent argument (think "dubs").. it's been a roller-coaster ride for me over a decade and it has consumed a huge amount of my time.
Thanks for all you've done Doug.
